Depart for the 6-hour drive to Ba Be Lake National Park. Arrive in the afternoon then check into a family run stilt house on the edge of Ba Be Lake. The rest of the afternoon and evening is at your leisure.
Overnight in Ba Be.
Following breakfast, it is a short drive to Ba Be Lake where your private boat will be waiting. Cruise to Puong Cave, which is a massive 30 meters high. The cave is an impressive feature of the area and if you are lucky you can see some of the local inhabitant bats.
Optional program on 4th, 9th, 14th, 19th, 24th & 29th days of the Lunar Calendar: start early in the morning and take the boat to discover Ban Tau Market which is 1 km (20 minutes walk) from Puong Cave (confirm this with your tour operator before your departure as arrangements have to be made).
Following the visit to Puong Cave continue down the opposite end of Ba Be Lake to Dau Dang, here there are a series of spectacular cascading falls between sheer walls of rock. After visiting the falls head back to your guesthouse, the rest of the evening is at your leisure.
Overnight in Ba Be.
After breakfast, drive back to Hanoi stopping on the way either to visit Cho Da market (which runs on the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th & 30th days of the lunar calendar) or to take pictures and to admire the scenery. Arrive in Hanoi in late afternoon.
