Screening soon - new Cambodia resort for Six Senses on Krabey Island
Private island resort will include cinema under the stars
Luxury wellness brand Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas plans to open a new property on Krabey Island in southwestern Cambodia during the third quarter of 2017.
Krabey is a 30-acre private island, and the new Six Senses will be the destination’s only resort, featuring 40 individual villas. Once guests arrive, they will first check in at a mainland reception facility, located about 10 minutes from Sihanoukville Airport, and then make their way to the new resort on what Six Senses officials are describing as “a short water transfer.”
Krabey is very private, with no public access and ideal for people who need a break from the craziness of everyday life to get in touch with themselves. The island is close to Ream National Park, which happens to be a beautiful snorkeling area. The location makes for a perfect holiday spot on its own or tied into country exploring at Angkor Wat or in Phnom Penh.
Each of the property’s villas will have private pools and outdoor decks surrounded by jungle, according to Wijers, and the accommodations will have separate living spaces with comfortable lounging areas.
The new Six Senses will also offer travellers a range of activity options, including snorkeling, scuba diving and kayaking, along with cooking classes and local cultural tours.
Guests can take advantage of wellness options such as an outdoor yoga pavilion, a meditation cave, Chinese medicine treatments and an Alchemy Bar, where folks can create their own beauty and wellness amenities.
Another of the resort’s unique features will be a venue dubbed “Cinema Paradiso” —featuring nighttime classic movie screenings.
Designers have also planned an observatory that will house an astronomical telescope and host stargazing sessions directed by experts and aimed at both adults and children.Dining options will include two restaurants, a poolside outlet for light meals and drinks and a deli that will feature its own ice-cream parlor.
